‘Evacuation Route’ signs are essential in large buildings. It is important that everyone within the building, be they a guest or a staff member, knows exactly where to go and how to get there in the event of an incident.
Evacuation and emergency exit signs are universally green and white. Often these signs will have a backing light in cases of extreme emergency, such as power outages, in order to make sure they remain visible. Placement of these signs is most often over doors so that people can quickly and easily identify an exit point. These signs tend not to even need text, and a simple graphic of a person running through a door is usually enough.
It is also important to clearly display the meeting points for the evacuation so that people know where to head. Arrows are a necessary addition to all these signs.
